Uses of Amcare AT Tablets
Amcare AT may be prescribed by a healthcare professional for:
- Management of high blood pressure (hypertension)
- Cardiovascular conditions where combined blood-pressure and heart-rate control is appropriate
- Certain patients with angina/coronary artery disease, when clinically appropriate
Amlodipine is indicated for hypertension and certain coronary artery disease settings, while atenolol provides beta-blocking activity. The exact indication should be determined by the prescribing physician.
How Amcare AT Tablets Work
Amlodipine 5 mg
Amlodipine is a calcium-channel blocker. It reduces calcium entry into vascular smooth muscle, producing relaxation of blood vessels and helping lower blood pressure.
Atenolol 50 mg
Atenolol is a beta-adrenergic blocker. It reduces the effects of sympathetic stimulation on the heart, helping to reduce heart rate and cardiac workload and contributing to blood-pressure control.
Combined Action
The two components act through different mechanisms, allowing the physician to use complementary effects on vascular resistance, blood pressure and cardiac workload.
Dosage and Administration
The dose and duration of Amcare AT Tablets should be determined by the treating physician based on the patient’s blood pressure, heart rate, medical history, kidney/liver function and response to treatment.
- Take the tablet exactly as prescribed.
- Swallow with water.
- It may be taken with or without food according to the prescribing instructions.
- Do not change the dose or stop treatment without medical advice.
- Atenolol should not generally be stopped abruptly, particularly in patients with coronary artery disease, because abrupt withdrawal can worsen angina and may lead to serious cardiac complications.
Possible Side Effects
Some patients may experience:
- Dizziness or light-headedness
- Fatigue or tiredness
- Slow heart rate
- Headache
- Swelling of the ankles or feet
- Nausea or abdominal discomfort
Peripheral edema is among the commonly reported adverse reactions with amlodipine.
Seek medical attention for severe dizziness/fainting, unusually slow heartbeat, breathing difficulty, worsening chest pain or symptoms suggestive of heart failure.
Precautions and Warnings
Amcare AT should be used only under medical supervision.

- Slow heart rate or heart block
- Heart failure or other significant heart disease
- Low blood pressure
- Asthma or significant bronchospastic disease
- Diabetes
- Peripheral circulation problems
- Kidney or liver impairment
