Product Description

DERMIQUEEN Cream – Beclomethasone + Neomycin + Clotrimazole

Amcare Pharma | Dermatology / Topical Combination Cream

DERMIQUEEN Cream is a topical combination formulation containing a corticosteroid, an antibiotic and an antifungal ingredient. According to the supplied product artwork, it is packed in a 15 g tube.

Because this product combines three active ingredients, its use should be guided by a qualified healthcare professional. In particular, the corticosteroid can mask or worsen certain skin infections when the cream is used inappropriately or for too long.

2. Role of each ingredient

Beclomethasone Dipropionate 0.025% w/w

Beclomethasone is a topical corticosteroid that reduces inflammation, redness and itching. However, suppressing inflammation can also mask symptoms of an infection, and inappropriate use can worsen some fungal skin conditions.

Neomycin Sulphate 0.5% w/w

Neomycin is an aminoglycoside antibiotic that acts against certain susceptible bacteria by interfering with bacterial protein synthesis. It may cause allergic contact dermatitis in some users, particularly with repeated application.

Clotrimazole 1% w/w

Clotrimazole is an imidazole antifungal that interferes with fungal cell membrane formation. It is used for susceptible fungal skin infections, including ringworm and athlete’s foot.

Chlorocresol 0.1% w/w

The packaging identifies chlorocresol as a preservative. It is included to help preserve the formulation; it is not listed as a principal therapeutic active ingredient.

3. Important clinical and regulatory consideration

The combination of a steroid + antibiotic + antifungal needs particular caution. A CDSCO expert committee document from 2015 assessed a similar topical combination and raised concerns about pharmacological rationale, misuse, antimicrobial resistance and the possibility that the steroid could worsen fungal infection. This is a historical committee assessment, not by itself confirmation of the current legal status of DERMIQUEEN Cream.

Before publishing promotional claims or marketing this product, verify its current Indian product licence, approved indications and prescribing information. Avoid presenting it as a routine treatment for every itchy rash, ringworm, eczema or skin irritation.

4. Potential uses and limitations

Any use should be based on a clinician’s diagnosis and the product’s verified approved indications.

Skin condition

Important consideration

Suspected fungal infection

A steroid-containing combination may mask symptoms and complicate treatment.

Bacterial skin infection

Neomycin is active against certain bacteria, but not every skin infection is susceptible.

Redness and itching

These symptoms have many causes and do not establish that this combination is appropriate.

Eczema or dermatitis

Requires diagnosis; unnecessary antibiotic or antifungal exposure should be avoided.

Ringworm

Steroid-containing creams can alter the appearance of the infection and allow it to spread.

For a confirmed uncomplicated fungal infection, a suitable antifungal-only treatment may be more appropriate than a multi-ingredient cream.

5. Directions for use

The supplied artwork does not specify an application frequency or treatment duration.

  • Use only if prescribed for the diagnosed condition.

  • Follow the clinician’s instructions and approved product leaflet.

  • Do not apply over large areas, under airtight dressings, or for prolonged periods unless specifically directed.

  • Avoid the eyes, mouth and other mucosal surfaces.

  • Do not use leftover cream to treat a new rash.

  • Seek medical reassessment if the rash spreads, worsens or fails to improve.

6. Side effects and warnings

Potential adverse effects include:

  • Burning, stinging or irritation

  • Redness, dryness or itching

  • Allergic contact dermatitis, including from neomycin

  • Skin thinning, stretch marks or visible small blood vessels with inappropriate corticosteroid use

  • Masking or worsening of an underlying infection

Neomycin can cause skin sensitisation, while prolonged or inappropriate topical corticosteroid use can produce local skin complications.

Stop using the cream and obtain medical advice if a significant rash or irritation develops. Seek urgent care for facial swelling, breathing difficulty, severe pain, fever or rapidly spreading redness.

7. Pregnancy, breastfeeding and children

  • Pregnancy: Consult a healthcare professional before use, particularly if treatment would cover a large area or continue for an extended period.

  • Breastfeeding: Obtain professional advice and avoid application where the infant could ingest or directly contact the cream.

  • Children: Use only under appropriate medical supervision. The artwork does not specify a minimum age.

8. Storage

Store according to the approved product label, keep the tube closed, protect it from excessive heat and keep it out of children’s reach. Do not use after the expiry date.
