DERMIQUEEN MCT Ointment – Product Information
DERMIQUEEN MCT Ointment by Amcare Pharmaceuticals contains Ofloxacin, Terbinafine Hydrochloride, Miconazole Nitrate, Clobetasol Propionate and Dexpanthenol in a topical ointment formulation. It combines antibacterial and antifungal agents with a potent topical corticosteroid and a skin-conditioning ingredient.
This is a prescription topical medicine. Its suitability depends on the type of skin condition, the presence of confirmed or suspected infection, and the prescriber’s assessment. Because it contains clobetasol propionate, it should be used cautiously and only for the duration directed by a qualified healthcare professional.

What Is DERMIQUEEN MCT Ointment Used For?
DERMIQUEEN MCT contains ingredients with different pharmacological actions. The combination may be prescribed for selected skin conditions when a healthcare professional determines that the individual components are appropriate.
1. Bacterial Skin Infections
Ofloxacin is an antibacterial agent that acts against susceptible bacteria. Its role depends on the organism causing the infection and its susceptibility to the medicine.
2. Fungal Skin Infections
Terbinafine and miconazole are antifungal agents that work through different mechanisms. They act against susceptible fungi and are used in the treatment of certain fungal skin infections.
3. Inflammation, Redness and Itching
Clobetasol propionate is a potent topical corticosteroid that reduces inflammatory symptoms. However, it can suppress visible symptoms without adequately treating the underlying infection and may worsen or mask certain fungal and bacterial skin conditions.
Important
DERMIQUEEN MCT should not be used routinely for every fungal infection, ringworm, itching or skin rash. Products containing clobetasol require particular caution because inappropriate or prolonged use can cause skin thinning and other adverse effects.
How Does DERMIQUEEN MCT Ointment Work?
The formulation contains five ingredients with different functions.
Ofloxacin – Antibacterial Action
Ofloxacin inhibits bacterial enzymes involved in DNA replication, particularly DNA gyrase and topoisomerase IV. This interferes with bacterial growth and survival.
Terbinafine Hydrochloride – Antifungal Action
Terbinafine inhibits the fungal enzyme squalene epoxidase. This disrupts ergosterol synthesis in fungal cell membranes and leads to the accumulation of squalene within susceptible fungi.
Miconazole Nitrate – Antifungal Action
Miconazole interferes with ergosterol synthesis, disrupting the structure and function of fungal cell membranes.
Clobetasol Propionate – Anti-inflammatory Action
Clobetasol activates corticosteroid receptors and suppresses inflammatory responses in the skin. It helps reduce redness, swelling and itching but does not directly eradicate bacteria or fungi.
Dexpanthenol – Skin Conditioning
Dexpanthenol is a provitamin B5 derivative used in topical products to support skin hydration and conditioning.
DERMIQUEEN MCT for Fungal Skin Infections
Fungal skin infections can cause itching, scaling, redness and circular or spreading patches. Terbinafine and miconazole have antifungal activity, but the appropriate treatment depends on the fungal species, infection site and severity.
The presence of clobetasol means this combination is not automatically suitable for routine fungal infections. Potent topical steroids can alter the appearance of fungal lesions and allow infections to spread, sometimes producing a condition known as tinea incognito.
A clinician should determine whether this combination is appropriate or whether a steroid-free antifungal treatment is needed.
DERMIQUEEN MCT for Bacterial Skin Infections
Ofloxacin acts against susceptible bacteria. However, not every inflamed or irritated skin lesion is caused by bacteria, and topical antibiotics are not appropriate for every skin condition.
The use of a combination antibiotic ointment should be based on clinical assessment, with attention to antimicrobial stewardship and the possibility of bacterial resistance.
DERMIQUEEN MCT for Inflammation and Itching
Clobetasol propionate is a very potent corticosteroid that can rapidly reduce inflammation and itching.
However, it may mask the symptoms of an untreated infection. It should not be used for undiagnosed rashes, acne, rosacea or routine facial itching without specific medical direction.
Avoid using this ointment on the face, groin, armpits, broken skin or large body areas unless specifically directed by a qualified healthcare professional.
Dosage and Administration
The appropriate application schedule depends on the diagnosis, affected area, severity and duration of treatment prescribed by the clinician.
Because DERMIQUEEN MCT contains clobetasol propionate 0.05%, its use should be limited to the prescribed duration and area.
Important for DERMIQUEEN MCT
-
Apply only to the affected skin area as directed by the prescriber.
-
Do not apply a thick layer or use more frequently than instructed.
-
Avoid contact with the eyes, mouth and other mucous membranes.
-
Do not cover the treated area with an airtight dressing unless instructed.
-
Do not extend the treatment duration without medical advice.
-
Wash your hands after application unless the hands are the treatment area.
There is no single application schedule that is appropriate for all skin conditions treated with this combination.
How to Apply DERMIQUEEN MCT Ointment
-
Clean and gently dry the affected skin as directed.
-
Apply a thin layer to the prescribed area.
-
Avoid rubbing aggressively or applying excessive quantities.
-
Wash your hands after use unless treating your hands.
-
Follow the prescribed schedule and stop or seek review according to your clinician’s instructions.
Do not share the ointment with other people or use it for a different skin condition without medical advice.
Side Effects of DERMIQUEEN MCT Ointment
Side effects can occur, particularly with prolonged use, application to sensitive areas or use over large areas of skin.
Possible Local Side Effects
-
Burning or stinging at the application site
-
Skin irritation, redness or dryness
-
Itching or rash

Risks Associated With Clobetasol
Prolonged or inappropriate use can cause:
-
Skin thinning (atrophy)
-
Stretch marks and visible small blood vessels
-
Changes in skin pigmentation
-
Delayed wound healing
-
Increased susceptibility to local infections
-
Systemic corticosteroid effects in some circumstances, especially with extensive or prolonged use
Seek Medical Attention If
-
The skin infection spreads or worsens.

Severe irritation, swelling or an allergic reaction develops.
-
The skin becomes unusually thin or develops prominent stretch marks.
-
You experience new or worsening symptoms despite treatment.
Precautions and Warnings
Before using DERMIQUEEN MCT, inform your doctor if you have:
-
A suspected or confirmed fungal skin infection
-
A bacterial skin infection
-
Broken skin, ulcers or open wounds
-
Acne, rosacea or a rash affecting the face
-
A history of allergy to any of the ingredients
-
A condition requiring treatment over a large area of skin

A need for prolonged or repeated corticosteroid treatment
Use on Sensitive Areas
Clobetasol is a very potent topical corticosteroid. Particular care is required when treating the face, skin folds and genital areas because these sites are more susceptible to adverse effects.
Infection Monitoring
Corticosteroids may suppress inflammation and disguise signs of infection. If the condition worsens or fails to improve, the diagnosis and treatment should be reviewed.
Antimicrobial Stewardship
Unnecessary use of topical antibiotics or antifungals may contribute to antimicrobial resistance. Use the product only when clinically appropriate.
DERMIQUEEN MCT and Drug Interactions
Systemic absorption from topical application is generally lower than from oral administration, but interactions and additional risks may arise in certain circumstances, particularly with extensive or prolonged application.
Tell your doctor or pharmacist about all medicines you use, especially:
-
Other topical corticosteroids
-
Other antibiotic or antifungal creams
-
Medicines that may affect corticosteroid metabolism, where clinically relevant
-
Products applied to the same skin area that may cause irritation
Do not combine multiple medicated creams on the same area unless advised by a healthcare professional.
DERMIQUEEN MCT During Pregnancy
The safety of this five-ingredient combination during pregnancy should be assessed by a qualified healthcare professional.
Clobetasol use during pregnancy requires particular care, especially if treatment would involve large areas, prolonged use or occlusion. Do not start or continue this combination during pregnancy without medical advice.
DERMIQUEEN MCT During Breastfeeding
Consult a healthcare professional before using this product while breastfeeding. If prescribed, avoid application to the nipple or areas that may come into direct contact with the infant unless specifically directed by the clinician.
