What are Pregabees-M Tablets Used For?

Pregabees-M may be prescribed for neuropathic pain and related conditions when pregabalin therapy is considered appropriate and vitamin B12 supplementation is also clinically indicated.

Physician-directed applications may include:

  • Peripheral neuropathic pain
  • Diabetic neuropathic pain
  • Post-herpetic neuralgia
  • Nerve pain following certain injuries
  • Other diagnosed neuropathic pain conditions

Pregabalin is used for nerve pain by affecting the transmission of pain signals through the nervous system. It is also used for epilepsy and some other indications depending on the clinical situation.

Pregabees-M should not be promoted as a treatment for every type of pain. Its use should be based on the underlying diagnosis and physician assessment.

How Does Pregabees-M Work?

1. Pregabalin SR – 75 mg

Pregabalin affects calcium-channel activity in the nervous system and reduces abnormal nerve signaling involved in neuropathic pain.

Its role is particularly relevant when pain is caused by abnormal nerve activity rather than only by tissue inflammation.

Role of Pregabalin

  • Helps reduce neuropathic pain
  • Modulates abnormal nerve signaling
  • May reduce symptoms such as burning, shooting or electric-type nerve pain

The SR (sustained-release) component is designed to provide prolonged drug release. The tablet should therefore be taken exactly as prescribed.

2. Methylcobalamin – 1500 mcg

Methylcobalamin is a metabolically active form of vitamin B12. Vitamin B12 is required for normal nervous-system function, myelination, DNA synthesis and healthy red-blood-cell formation.

Vitamin B12 deficiency can be associated with neurological symptoms including numbness and tingling.

Role of Methylcobalamin

  • Provides vitamin B12 supplementation
  • Supports normal nervous-system function
  • Supports normal red-blood-cell formation
  • Helps address vitamin B12 deficiency when present

Combined Action of Pregabees-M

Pregabalin SR → Modulates abnormal nerve signaling and provides neuropathic pain relief

Methylcobalamin → Provides vitamin B12 nutritional support for normal neurological function

The combination is therefore relevant when a physician considers both neuropathic pain management and vitamin B12 supplementation appropriate.

Benefits / Therapeutic Role

1. Neuropathic Pain Management

Pregabalin is specifically used for nerve pain and can reduce abnormal pain signaling.

2. Vitamin B12 Support

Methylcobalamin supplies vitamin B12, which has important roles in the nervous system and blood-cell formation.

3. Combination Formulation

Two active components are provided in a single bilayered tablet.

4. Sustained-Release Pregabalin

The product contains pregabalin specifically described on the artwork as sustained release.

Dosage & Administration

Pregabees-M should be taken only according to the prescription of a qualified healthcare professional.

The appropriate dose depends on:

  • Type and severity of neuropathic pain
  • Age
  • Kidney function
  • Other medicines being taken
  • Individual response and tolerability

Pregabalin is eliminated primarily through the kidneys, and dose adjustment is required in patients with reduced renal function.

Administration

  • Take the tablet exactly as prescribed.
  • Swallow the tablet with water.
  • Do not crush, split or chew a sustained-release tablet unless the approved product information specifically permits it.
  • Take it at the prescribed time each day.
  • Do not take an additional dose if you forget a dose without professional advice.

Important: Do Not Stop Suddenly

Pregabalin should not be stopped abruptly. Sudden discontinuation can cause withdrawal symptoms and, in people taking it for epilepsy, can increase seizure risk. Dose reduction should be gradual and supervised by a healthcare professional.

Possible Side Effects

Pregabalin-related

Common adverse effects can include:

  • Drowsiness
  • Sleepiness
  • Dizziness
  • Headache
  • Blurred or double vision
  • Tiredness
  • Difficulty with concentration
  • Swelling of the hands or feet

Drowsiness and dizziness are among the commonly reported effects of pregabalin.

Some patients can also develop dependence or withdrawal symptoms with pregabalin.

Methylcobalamin-related

Methylcobalamin is generally well tolerated when used appropriately. Any unusual reaction should be reported to the prescribing healthcare professional.

Serious Symptoms Requiring Medical Attention

Seek urgent medical attention if the patient develops:

Allergic symptoms

  • Swelling of the lips, mouth, throat or tongue
  • Difficulty breathing
  • Severe rash
  • Severe sudden dizziness or fainting

Neurological symptoms

  • Severe confusion
  • Extreme sleepiness
  • Loss of consciousness
  • Seizure

Serious allergic reactions to pregabalin are rare but require immediate medical attention.

Precautions & Warnings

1. Kidney Function

Pregabalin is primarily eliminated by the kidneys. Patients with reduced kidney function may require a different dose.

2. Drowsiness & Dizziness

Pregabalin can cause sleepiness and dizziness. Patients should understand how the medicine affects them before driving or operating machinery.

3. CNS Depressants

Pregabalin can have additive sedative effects when combined with medicines or substances that depress the central nervous system.

4. Respiratory Risk

Patients with respiratory disease, older adults and those taking other CNS-depressant medicines should discuss pregabalin use with their doctor.

5. Dependence & Withdrawal

Do not increase the dose yourself and do not discontinue pregabalin suddenly. Gradual dose reduction may be required.

Who Should Use Pregabees-M With Caution?

Medical assessment is particularly important for patients with:

  • Kidney disease
  • Respiratory problems
  • History of drug dependence
  • Severe dizziness or sedation
  • Heart failure or significant edema
  • Pregnancy or plans for pregnancy
  • Breastfeeding
  • Concurrent CNS-depressant medicines
  • Other medicines that cause drowsiness

Drug Interactions

Inform your doctor about all prescription medicines, OTC medicines and supplements.

Particular caution may be required with:

  • Opioid pain medicines
  • Sleeping medicines
  • Sedatives
  • Anti-anxiety medicines
  • Alcohol
  • Other medicines that cause drowsiness
  • Other medicines affecting the central nervous system

Combining pregabalin with other CNS depressants can increase sedation and may increase respiratory-depression risk in susceptible patients.

Pregnancy & Breastfeeding

Pregabalin should be used during pregnancy only when specifically prescribed after an assessment of potential benefits and risks.

Patients who are pregnant, planning pregnancy or breastfeeding should inform their doctor before starting Pregabees-M.

Driving & Operating Machinery

Pregabees-M may cause dizziness, sleepiness or reduced concentration.

Do not drive, operate machinery or perform hazardous activities until you know how the medicine affects you.

Alcohol & Pregabees-M

Alcohol should preferably be avoided or minimized while taking pregabalin because it can increase drowsiness, dizziness and impaired coordination.

Storage

Store Pregabees-M Tablets:

  • In a cool, dry place
  • Away from direct sunlight
  • Protected from excessive moisture
  • In the original packaging
  • Out of reach of children

Follow the storage conditions printed on the approved product packaging.
